The Walking Dead Returns with Nebraska; Walking Dead Video Game In Production

Season 2 Episode  8 of The Walking Dead entitled "Nebraska" picks up where it left off. I thought it was a solid return to a (at times) painfully slow first season.

My favorite scenes?
Rick finally stepping up as a leader and taking a stand (Excellent trigger finger action). I know he's the voice of reason, but I really wish he'd just give Shane a taste of some knuckle sammich. Oh wait, Maggie gets to do that (She's on my favorites list now). Daryl calling Lori Olive Oyl (she does nothing for the group but cause friction, plus her constant questioning of Rick's decision making capabilities really irks me.)

By the way, they're coming out with a game too.

An episodic video game to be released nine chapters with the first one currently planned for an early 2012 release for PS3, XBOX 360, and PC.

Watch PLAYING DEAD, a video series that takes you behind the scenes of the creation of the game.

The Last of Us Debut Trailer (Survive an Apocalypse) - PS3

"This is our routine. Day and night," says the girl character, Ellie, in a voice-over. "All we do is survive. It never lets up."

Survive an apocalypse on Earth in The Last of Us, a PlayStation 3-exclusive title by Naughty Dog. Here, you will find abandoned cities reclaimed by nature. Here is a population decimated by a modern plague. Here, there are only survivors killing each other for food, weapons, or whatever they can get their hands on. Here, you find no hope.

Joel, a brutal survivor, and Ellie, a brave young teenage girl who is wise beyond her years, must work together if they hope to survive their journey across the US.

A few weeks ago they released the following teaser trailer to whet our appetites:

They just recently release the debut trailer (which looks amazing by the way), not surprising at all since Naughty Dog brought us the Uncharted franchise.

The Last of Us should be available for PS3 in late 2012 or early 2013

I AM ALIVE (Prepper-type post-apocalypse video game)

Came across a trailer for a game that goes over some rules of survival in a post-apocalyptic world.

I thought my prepper/survivalist readers might enjoy it.

The game is called I am alive by Ubisoft.

Here's the game synopsis from the official site:

One year after a worldwide cataclysmic event that wiped out most of the human race, a man struggles for survival in a desolate city as he tries to reunite with his long lost family. In this post-apocalyptic tale, there are no supernatural threats, just an everyman who faces a decaying and hazardous world and humanity’s darkest inclinations. Will you hang on to your humanity and help strangers or are you ready to sacrifice others in order to survive?

Red Dead Redemption: Cowboys and Zombies

Red Dead Redemption with zombies. We can't imagine it, but it's coming and it sounds like fun.

Rockstar has offered up a bunch of new details about the zombie-infested Undead Nightmare DLC pack, due out in autumn.

"The Undead Nightmare Pack will feature an entirely new mostly single-player campaign that follows John Marston as he tries to find a cure for the highly infectious zombie plague that has spread across the frontier," explains Rockstar.

"In addition to this epic new single-player adventure, The Undead Nightmare Pack also features brand new gameplay mechanics, weapons, zombie animals, mythical creatures and even a brand new secret location."

The developer also promises "exciting new multiplayer modes", which probably involve zombies (a survival or versus mode, we predict), and more info "very soon".

The Undead Nightmare Pack will be released on PS3 and Xbox for $9.99/800 MS Points.

Before that though, Rockstar will be releasing the 'Liars and Cheats' pack on September 21.

Blood Drive: Zombies, combat and car crashes - game for X-BOX & PS3

From Activision:

In Blood Drive, contestants must use their motorized death steeds of steel in a televised game show where drivers battle each other and hordes of revolting flesh eaters in an all-out fight to the death. Face undead frat boys, cops, strippers and bachelorette partiers, each with their own special brand of death and devastation - and ways to die! While these rotting monsters wander the streets of a desert sin city craving sweet, succulent brains, your enemies have come equipped battle hardened armed vehicles, including heavily weaponized muscle cars, hot rods, and more. Amidst this gore-drenched mayhem contestants must use their head or lose it!

In the game, you are in a TV show where drivers kill each other while competing against zombies. Like a mashup between Twisted Metal, Left for dead, and The Running Man.

The game allows for online multiplayer support, where players can opt in and out at any time.

Release date is November 2010 for X-Box 360 and Playstation 3

APOX - survival strategy game mad-max style for PC and MAC

Repurposed police cars and a "realistic ammo and fuel supply system" are amongst the post-apocalyptic joys on offer in Apox, an RTS announced today by Indian indie developer BlueGiant Interactive.

Set in a "Mad-Max-esque universe," Apox draws upon the FPS and RPG genres to offer "equipping multiple weapons, weapon drops, and limited ammo" plus a veteran system and unit customisation. Players will be able to "essentially create dozens of unique unit variations" by plonking soldiers in different vehicles. A map editor will be included plus, somewhat unusually for an RTS, multiplayer with up to 32 players.

"We are the first Indian studio to make a game of this quality and scale," BlueGiant CEO Vinnie Reddy declared in the announcement, saying "We are really proud of APOX."
Apox is scheduled for release on PC and Mac in "late 2010."

APOX is a post-apocalytic survival strategy game set in Mad-Max-esque universe. The player takes command of survivors as they battle up to 31 other human (or AI) opponents.

Mickey Mouse in Wasteland

Epic Mickey is a game for the Nintendo Wii console available for sale on November 1, 2010. It comes in standard or Disney Epic Collector's Edition.

Mickey wanders around Wasteland where lost and/or forgotten Disney characters are held. The stylized look of the game is based more on the the classic Disney look.

With the help of game designer Warren Spector (who has worked on games such as Deus Ex), Epic Mickey has more of an adult and darker tone.

Tokyo Jungle. The animals inherit the Earth with this post-apocalyptic game.

Tokyo Jungle is a game being developed for PlayStation 3 and is set in a post-apocalyptic Japan, where the human race is almost extinct and animals have reclaimed the planet.

The game has 2 modes.
Story mode - you play through missions that follow a storyline

Survival mode - the player chooses from at least 80 animal selections (elephants, crocodiles, cheetahs, porcupines, chickens, ostriches, dogs, etc.)  and try to surive as long as you can.

The basic story is a post-apocalypic Japan where humans are pretty much all gone leaving the animals to fend for themselves.

Pretty interesting take on the post-apocalypic genre.
The game is set for a winter release.

Dead State: Zombie Apocalypse PC Game

Source: Double Bear Productions

Dead State is a compelling, high-tension RPG set at the beginning of the zombie apocalypse - a deadly illness is rampaging through the world, turning those infected into the walking dead. As society is beginning to fall apart, the player must organize a scant handful of allies, working on fortifying a shelter, scouting for food and supplies, making uncertain alliances with others, and attempting to hold together a group as humanity teeters on the brink of extinction. And although the zombies lurk as an ever present threat, the biggest obstacle to the player may just be other humans with the same goal: survival at any cost.

Release date: TBA
